Loader

The loader which is stored in /dev/fl2 starts first. It loads vmlinux.gz from /dev/fl1, and it starts vmlinux (kernel).

root(/) filesystem

HD-LAN

The ramdisk image is always loaded from /dev/fl1, and it is used as root filesystem.

HD-HLAN, HD-HGLAN, KURO-BOX

In case of
  • store "NGNG" in /dev/fl3
    or
  • failere to mount /dev/hda1 to root
    it loads ramdisk image from /dev/fl1, and it used as root filesystem.

    In other case (in case of normal boot), /dev/hda1 used as root filesystem.

    load hdlan_diffimg.tar.gz (only in case of HD-LAN V2)

    In case of HD-LAN V2, hdlan_diffimg.tar.gz which stored in /dev/hda3 is loaded over root filesystem.

    restore configuration (only in case of HD-LAN)

    In case of HD-LAN, conf_save.tar.gz which stored in /dev/fl0 is loaded over root filesystem.
    Why don't you hack the LinkStation/KURO-BOX
